Finding calm and perspective in a snow storm pause
Storm anxiety is something I think most of us have felt at some point — especially when we're dealing with unpredictable weather or the threat of a snow or ice storm. If you've ever made it through an ice storm, you probably remember those long, powerless days when everything seemed to come to a standstill.
The recent winter storm left us with piles of snow, making it difficult to get out and about or stick to our usual routines. Understandably, that can leave anyone feeling disconnected, unproductive, or even a bit stir-crazy.
But I actually see these moments as a silver lining — a chance to slow down and care for myself in ways I often overlook. When life is put on pause, I find it's the perfect time to tackle those projects I never get around to, or simply give myself permission to rest without guilt.
There's something about the forced quiet and stillness that stands in stark contrast to the usual rush of daily life. It makes me realize how much I appreciate my routines and even miss the "busy-ness" that sometimes wears me out. Strange as it sounds, I end up looking forward to getting back to normal.
These snowy time-outs always remind me to reflect on what I value about my everyday life and routines.
